The Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) Learning Activities Workspace (ILAW) is the official e-learning platform of the IPOPHL to support its mission to build an inclusive intellectual property system serving the needs of Filipinos.

Through information technology, IP Learning through ILAW is where stakeholders can be educated and trained on intellectual property, gearing towards the IPOPHL’s vision of a progressive Philippines using intellectual property assets for inclusive economic and social development by 2030.

DATA PRIVACY (ILAW)


By signing up in the ILAW platform, you hereby give your consent to the IP Academy (IPA) to use and process all data received from you in accordance with Republic Act No. 10173 otherwise known as Data Privacy Act of 2012. The personal information and sensitive personal information obtained may be used for platform/program communication/updates, certificate of participation, and all matters related to the conduct of the training, including, profiling for customization and improvement of the program and the platform. DATA PRIVACY (PROGRAM REGISTRATION)

By registering in our program and ticking the box signifying your agreement to the processing, and disclosure of personal data, you agree to the collection, use, disclosure, profiling and processing of your personal information and sensitive personal information for all matters related in the conduct of the program and other legitimate purposes in accordance with IPOPHL’s mandate and other existing laws.

COLLECTION, USE, AND CONTROL OF PERSONAL DATA

We collect the following personal data from you when you sign up on the ILAW Platform or register in IPA’s program manually or electronically. User data collected:

• Name
• Phone
• Address
• Institutional Affiliation
• Designation
• Educational Attainment

Other data collected:

• Institution/ Organization/ Company
• Gender
• Age group
• Sector/Industry (if applicable)
• Region of Residence
• Contact Number
• Email Address
• Emergency Contact Name
• Emergency Contact’s Number
• Current Work Affiliation
• Position in work affiliation
• Food restrictions(if applicable)
• Expected knowledge to obtain from the program
• Consent to receive updates regarding future events and programs of IPOPHL and the IP Academy
• Consent to use the photos taken throughout the events and some photographs for publications materials.
• Government ID (if applicable)
• Selfie with ID (if applicable)
• Profile Photo (if applicable)

The collected personal data are used for documentation purposes, research within the control of IPOPHL, for internal use to improve services, policy decisions, sharing of aggregated data to external speakers and partner institutions, impact assessments, modify or enhance the conduct of training programs, and processing of your application or request in accordance with our mandate and the provisions of R. A. No. 8293, also known as the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines, as amended.

WITHDRAWAL, REMOVAL OR DESTRUCTION OF PERSONAL DATA

You may request for the withdrawal, removal or destruction of your personal data from the IPA’s data repository, subject to the provisions of the Data Privacy Act of 2012 and the Rules and Regulations of the IPOPHL. You may do so by sending us an email indicating the personal information to be withdrawn, removed, or destroyed and the purpose/s thereof.

DATA RETENTION

The data collected by IP Academy shall be retained for five (5) years, pursuant to the Data Privacy Policy of the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines, or as may be permitted by law. Data retention may be extended every five (5) years upon consent of the data subject.
