This training session is designed specifically for women innovators and entrepreneurs. It will provide insights into the patent system, the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT), and how these can be leveraged to advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). IP Forward: IP for DA-NFRDI Research Professionals is a specialized capacity-building program designed to enhance the intellectual property (IP) awareness and competencies of researchers and professionals from the Department of Agriculture – National Fisheries Research and Development Institute (DA-NFRDI). The program provides participants with a foundational understanding of IP concepts, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and other forms of IP protection relevant to research and innovation. It aims to help research professionals recognize, protect, and strategically manage their innovations and research outputs, thereby supporting knowledge creation, technology transfer, and the advancement of the fisheries and aquatic resources sector.
IP Forward for Maritime Professionals is a specialized capacity-building program designed to equip maritime professionals with a comprehensive understanding of intellectual property (IP) and its strategic role in the maritime sector. The program aims to foster innovation, protect technological advancements, and enhance competitiveness within the maritime industry by promoting effective IP management and utilization.
Through a series of expert-led discussions and interactive sessions, participants will gain a strong understanding of the fundamentals of intellectual property, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and IP enforcement, as applied to maritime technologies, vessel design, logistics systems, and marine research. The program also emphasizes the importance of safeguarding innovations, navigating IP rights in collaborative environments, and leveraging IP assets for commercial and operational advantage.

The IP Forward >> IP for Health Research
Specialists is an intermediate training program designed for health
professionals engaged in scientific and biomedical research. It aims to equip
participants with essential knowledge on intellectual property (IP) and its
intersection with scientific research, particularly in studies related to
public health, disease surveillance, and the optimization or verification of
existing laboratory protocols, assays, and diagnostic tests. The program is
intended for epidemiologists, virologists, laboratory scientists, and research
managers whose work supports infectious disease monitoring, laboratory
analysis, and other evidence-based public health interventions.
The program is conducted in partnership with the
Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM).

The IP Forward >> IP Masterclass for Professional Teachers is designed to provide educators with practical knowledge on the fundamentals of IP, its application in the education sector, and contemporary issues such as copyright, plagiarism, and digital content. The program highlights the role of schools as hubs for innovation and development, thereby supporting teachers in promoting creativity and innovation among students.
This specialized edition of the IP Forward program is designed to provide participants (e.g. IP rightsholder, MSMEs, early career legal practitioners, general public) with a comprehensive understanding of intellectual property (IP) enforcement in the Philippines. It brings together experts from IPOPHL, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), and the Department of Justice (DOJ) to deliver practical and legal insights on protecting IP rights.
The program begins with an overview of the Philippine IP system and the role of IPOPHL in safeguarding creativity and innovation. Participants will then explore the nuances of infringement across patents, trademarks, and copyrights, learning how to identify violations and understand their implications. The sessions will further equip attendees with knowledge of administrative remedies available through IPOPHL, highlighting efficient and cost-effective strategies for rights holders.
Building on this foundation, the program will address the criminal dimension of enforcement, covering the processes of filing complaints, conducting investigations, and prosecuting offenders through the NBI and DOJ.
